Internet Tools

  • Many Berrien County schools have access to Discovery Education streaming (formerly united streaming) for media clips.

    Michigan Model health-related videos are available to everyone in Michigan for free. Log in with username: mi_model, password: mi_model.

     

  • There are lots of great videos on YouTube, but it's blocked.  Use Media Converter or KeepVid to download them at home.  Then bring them to school on a flash drive or email them to yourself. Another great choice is Format Factory, which converts many types of files.

     

  • Or if you're clever you can store them on Box.net.

 

 

  • Use Rubistar to create incredible rubrics.

 

 

  • Google Docs is also very popular and easy to use. 

    Use the Forms feature to collect information from your students or parents.

     

  • As long as you're using Google, set up a Google Calendar.

     

 

  • Edit your photos online with Picnik.

 

  • Create a video presentation with Animoto
     
  • Post and share on Slideshare.
     

  • VoiceThread is another way to create a collaborative presentation.

 

  • Tell stories using comic strips with GoAnimate.

 

  • ShareTabs is a cool way to share internet sites with your kids.

     

  • Facebook is blocked, but you can create your own social network on Ning, invite your students, and provide a safe environment to talk, share, and learn.

Create Content

  • Use PBworks to quickly create web pages that can be edited anywhere.

     

  • Put away the poster board and use Glogster.

 

 

 

  • Record live video using Ustream.tv...or you can view recorded videos.
